Taller Tales, a minimalist ridiculous RPG, is now available on DriveThruRPG from Elsewhere Media. Yep, this game is written by yours truly, Part Time Rogue. And it’s 99 cents!
Believe it or not, this game is several years in development, was playtested at last year’s GenCon, and has never failed to be one of the most hilarious party games you can play, or an intro RPG for young children…all on a 3×5 index card. The game gets more and more ridiculous the more the GM refuses to say no. Here’s an example of a session I ran the other night with some friends.
Flarf: I attempt to convert the US to the Gold Standard.
GM: *rolls d10.* Ah, you got a 1. Unfortunately you fail. You crash the economy. Your new goal: Find the seven treasures and restore the economy.
Link: Where’s the giant cactus I planted twenty minutes ago? Is it grown?
GM: *Rolls*. A 10! Oh yes. it has grown, and now the balance of the universe sits upon it. It is…The World Cactus.
GM: You all slowly begin to ascend the World Cactus, in search of the Seven Treasures.
Paz: My Wizard googles the location of the seven treasures.
GM: That’s a Solving roll. *rolls d10.* 7? You succeed. You have the exact location of each of the seven treasures.
PTR: I’m going to call an Uber.
GM: That’s a Succeeding roll. *Roll* You call the Uber, but can’t afford it because some asshole crashed the US Economy by attempting to change it to the gold standard.
